#8 SAMANTHA FORTIER

The New England Mutiny welcomes the return of Samantha Fortier for the 2009 season. In 2007, her first season with the Mutiny, Fortier scored 5 goals and had 2 assists. A sophomore at Clemson University, Fortier has tallied a total of 16 points – 5 goals, 6 assists and has played in 35 of their 38 games in her career there. Fortier netted the game winning goal against Western Carolina during her freshman season to keep her team undefeated on the season (4-0) and then again the following match in a 2-1 win over Furman.

During her high school career at Minnechaug Regional, Fortier was named an NSCAA High School All-American and a two-time Regional All-American and earned All-State honors three times and All-Western Mass league honors three times. She was named the Division I Western Mass Player of the Year in 2006 and was the only person at Minnechaug High School to score 100 career points in three years. Fortier was a member of the Region 1 ODP team for 2 years and the Massachusetts ODP team for 5 years. She was a five-time club soccer state champion.
